After watching Jack Reacher in my Amazon streaming app, I was surprised to see the movie "Stateside" on Amazon starring Mon Confiado and quickly scheduled an interview with him the very next day since we will be working together in Niña Niño, TV5’s top-rating primetime show starring Maja Salvador. Confiado plays the long-lost father of Niño (Noel Comia Jr).

I started asking about "Stateside" and realized that this was just one of the films he shot abroad. “Stateside is about Andrew, a Filipino TNT (tago ng tago). Since he does not have proper documents, he had to live homeless running from the INS and working on odd jobs like drug rings. Our director Marcial Chavez wanted to tackle on the homeless of America, racism and drug syndicates.

My director is Filipino-American and he is really brilliant. We also did Turncoat together, which is scheduled to be released soon. Turncoat is about a quiet man living simply with his wife (Annaluisa Capasa) in Los Angeles. Then out of nowhere, some mysterious people start chasing them and turn their world upside down and inside out.” I asked the seasoned actor if it was a case of mistaken identity or if he had a violent past before marrying his Italian wife in the movie, “You will find out when you watch the movie.”, tells the sought-after actor.

After Niña Niño, Mon is set to film Paul Soriano’s "The Fisher" with Enchong Dee, Heaven Peralejo and Eula Valdez. “I have been preparing for this film for quite some time, losing weight and studying my role,  since I am now practicing method acting originated by Stanislavsky. Most of my Hollywood idols practice this method, like Christian Bale, Robert De Niro and the late Heath Ledger. Paul wants to include this film in an international film festival, then launch it in an online streaming app. But this will be big.”

The brilliant actor also recently finished a Korean film entitled "Golden Holiday" produced by Showbox Entertainment Corp. Confiado shares the plot of "Golden Holiday." "The film is about a Korean police detective (Kwak Do-won)  who took his family on a vacation to the Philippines, but he actually had a hidden agenda which is to track a friend (Kim Sang-ho)  who scammed him. He finds him in prison for murder and finds out about the case surrounding the Yamashita’s Gold. This is a perfect movie with lots of twists. I will let you know immediately when the Philippine release will be and which streaming app. In the meantime, I would like to invite everyone to watch my movie Stateside in the Amazon streaming app.”

I also heard from the grapevine that Confiado was also cast in the much-talked-about Hollywood movie "Concepcion" which will be co-produced by ABS-CBN International, but the actor was very safe in answering, “The truth is the casting is not yet final and anything can happen over time. So I would rather keep mum and announce when there is really something to announce. As of now, nothing is final yet, but I am hoping to get in that project because I heard it will be huge.” Last February,  ABS-CBN International Production head Ruel Bayani confirmed that Sharon Cuneta will be playing a major role in "Concepcion," a Hollywood series about an Asian-American mafia patriarch.
