DOH reports 4,131 additional Covid-19 cases in the past week; 591 deaths


The Department of Health (DOH) reported 4,131 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, March 14.

This is the second week of the implementation of DOH's weekly case bulletin. Data shared was from March 7 to March 13.

DOH said it saw the need to switch its focus to a more proactive and long-term health solution thereby deciding to provide weekly case bulletins instead of the daily case update.

In Monday's update, 1,006 patients with severe and critical Covid-19 infections were admitted or 14.3 percent of total admissions.

The country's seven-day average daily cases is at 590 or 35 percent lower than cases from Feb. 28 to March 6. Of this, three were severe and critical cases or 0.07 percent of the total cases.

DOH also recorded 591 new deaths.

Of the 591 deaths, 115 occurred in March 2022 (19.5 percent), 164 in February 2022 (27.7 percent), 95 in January 2022 (16.1 percent).

Eight were in December 2021 (1.4 percent), six in November 2021 (1.0 percent), 15 in October 2021 (2.5 percent), 40 in September 2021 (6.8 percent), 23 in August 2021 (3.9 percent), 19 in July 2021 (3.2 percent), 16 in June 2021 (2.7 percent), 3 in May 2021 (0.5 percent), 10 in April 2021 (1.7 percent), six in March 2021 (1.0 percent), one in February 2021 (0.2 percent), two in January 2021 (0.3%).

Fifteen were in December 2020 (2.5 percent), seven in November 2020 (1.2 percent), nine in October 2020 (1.5 percent), 11 in September 2020 (1.9 percent), 16 in August 2020 (2.7 percent), six in July 2020 (1.0 percent), one in June 2020 (0.2 percent), two in May 2020 (0.3 percent), and one in March 2020 (0.2 percent) due to late encoding of death information in COVIDKaya.

DOH also reported that 64 million individuals or 71.71 percent have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country while 11.1 million received booster shots.

Meanwhile, 704 out of 3,508 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds or 19.6 percent are being utilized while 4,648 of 27,021 non-ICU beds or 17.2 percent are occupied.
