Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano has issued an executive order approving all applications for face-to-face classes in private and public schools, from kindergarten to post graduate studies, in the city.

Under Rubiano’s order issued on March 4, the city government poses no objection to all applications of face-to-face classes but requires the strict implementation of the minimum public health standards or the localized EMI habit (Ensure to always wash your hands, Mask is a must and Implement physical distancing).

Rubiano also ordered all educational institutions to strictly implement mandatory wearing of face masks, physical distancing, avoid mass gathering, and regular disinfection of high-touch objects like doorknobs, buttons, keypads, handles, tables, chairs, counters, and high traffic locations and common areas.

She also ordered all educational institutions to comply with the guidelines issued by the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Legal Education Board (LEB), and other regulatory government agencies.

The mayor, in preparation of the face-to-face classes, distributed a total of 2,457 laptops for the use of teachers and staff at all public schools in the city.

Aside from laptops, Rubiano also distributed pocket Wi-Fi, headsets, and hard drive disks.

In a ceremony held at the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office on Thursday (March 10), Rubiano personally turned over the gadgets to School Division Superintendent Dr. Loreta Torrecampo and Assistant School Division Superintendent Dr. Arturo Tolentino.

She said the distribution of gadgets was part of her administration’s HELP priority program, which stands for (H) Healthcare and Housing; (E) Education, Economic Growth and Environment; (L) Livelihood and Lifestyle; and (P) Peace and Order, Palengke (market) and Pamilya (family)
