Imus LGU temporarily halts vaccination for kids 5–11 due to lack of Pfizer doses

IMUS CITY, Cavite – The local government unit (LGU) temporarily suspended its pediatric vaccination for kids aged five to 11 due to a lack of supply of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

Pfizer is the only Covid-19 vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration to be used for the age group.

In a Facebook announcement on Thursday, March 10, Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi said that the city government is already coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH) regarding the next delivery of Pfizer doses.

"Huwag po nating sayangin ang kagustuhan ng taongbayan na maprotektahan ang kanilang sarili at pamilya! (Let us not waste the people's aspiration to protect themselves and their family)," the mayor appealed to DOH in his post, stating that there is high demand for vaccines in Imus.

Maliksi, meanwhile, asked his constituents to keep updated on announcements regarding the resumption of pediatric vaccination.
