Motorcycle robber killed by police in QC shoot out


An armed man was killed by the police in a shootout, shortly after he stole a motorcycle along with five cohorts in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City on Saturday evening, March 5.

Lt. Col. Roldante Sarmiento, Quezon City Police DIstrict (QCPD) Payatas Bagong Silangan Station (PS 13) commander, said that unidentified slain man was around 30 to 35 years old.

The PS 13 said the victim, Aldrin Amorcillo, 28, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), asked for their help after the six suspects, who were riding three motorcycles, robbed him at the corner of Santo Nino and San Juan Evangelista Streets, Brgy. Payatas at around 10:45 p.m.

Amorcillo said the suspects took his orange Yamaha motorcycle and a cellphone.

The police immediately conducted a dragnet operation and cornered one of the suspects, who was seen riding the victim's vehicle along Mahogany St., in Brgy. Payatas at around 11:17 p.m.

The suspect pulled out his gun and fired at the police officers, who retaliated shooting him.

The QCPD Forensic Unit recovered from the suspect one .38 revolver, three live ammunition, two fired cartridges, a coin purse with two sachets of alleged shabu, and the victim's motorcycle.

Probers are still establishing the suspect's identity while locating his five cohorts.
