P186-million Disiluad Bridge to link Quirino to major economic hubs in Manila

QUIRINO – The completion and opening of the new Disiluad Mega Bridge along Cordon-Aurora Boundary Road will maximize the connectivity of the Quirino highway network to neighboring provinces and Metro Manila.

This was disclosed by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Regional Office 2 (RO2) Director Loreta M. Malaluan in her report to DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado.

Malaluan said the new bridge will also promote rural development that will improve the quality of life in the locality

The project was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) FY 2019 with a total allocation of P186-million, and was completed in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Malaluan, noted that  the rehabilitation and replacement of the old Disiluad Bridge was timely and critical considering the heavy traffic volume along the route, and the urgent need to build a new structure ensures the provision of an efficient highway system in Quirino.

The project has a length of 161.40 linear meters constructed bridge on its upstream portion alongside the existing bridge that crosses Addalam river. The bridge is equipped with a six-span reinforced concrete deck girder with a one-span steel plate measuring 7.32 meters carriageway width while both abutments and piers rest on bored pile technology.

Work also included drainage structures, installation of warning signs and laying of thermoplastic pavement markings. The new transport facility will reinforce the old dilapidated structure providing an all-weather infrastructure for commuters and residents.
