Over 100 professors from the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) have signed a statement of support for presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan.
In a joint statement on Friday, March 4, Atenean educators from various departments in AdMU have expressed support for the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem.
"In response to the call for solemn reflection and critical discernment, we are expressing our collective voice for honesty, truth, and justice," the statement read.
The Atenean educators joined more than 100 priests and brothers from the Jesuit order, which runs the Ateneo network of schools, who aired their support for the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem.
"As teachers, we have a duty to our students and our country to stand for and advocate honesty, truth, and justice, as our way of giving life to the principles and values that the Jesuits have taught us: to be persons for others, to be persons in solidarity with others, and to be light in the Lord," they said.
The educators affirmed that Robredo and Pangilinan "best reflect our mission and vocation to create and forge a society that cares for humanity, fair and just to all, and a source of hope."
"This is our response to the call of the times. This is the cause that we seek to advocate for the betterment of our youth, for the prosperity of our nation, and for the Greater Glory of God."
