PRO2 nets 180 law violators in one-time, bigtime operation


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan -- The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) nabbed at least 172 law violators and facilitated the surrender of 46 New Peoples Army (NPA) in a one-time, bigtime police operation.

The Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) or one-day SACLEO focused on operations against illegal drugs, wanted persons, loose firearms, illegal logging, and the surrender of 46 NPAs on Monday, Feb. 28.

During the implementation of search warrants and buy-bust operations, 10 drug personalities were captured and yielded 11.09 grams of shabu and 5 grams of marijuana worth P77,780.50.

Cagayan Valley Cops also arrested seven suspects and confiscated 13 firearms from them. They are facing charges for violation of RA No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

The implementation of search warrants and other police operations led to the confiscation of two explosives and 42 firearms.

On the same day, 84 of the top most wanted persons and 79 other individuals with standing warrants of arrest were accounted for.

In line with the government's campaign to end local communist armed conflict, PRO2 also facilitated the surrender of six CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs), 4 NPAs, and 36 CTG supporters.

PRO2 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Steve B Ludan commended the remarkable accomplishment of the operating teams.
