Chiz on EDSA People Power: ‘It’s a beautiful story that needs to be told’

Senatorial candidate and incumbent Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Friday stressed the importance of commemorating the EDSA People Power revolution saying it is “a beautiful story that needs to be told.”

“The province of Sorsogon joins the nation as we commemorate the Edsa People Power Revolution. It’s a beautiful story that needs to be told and retold to celebrate the nameless heroes and heroines of this shining chapter in our history,” Escudero said in a statement.

Escudero, who is seeking re-election in the upcoming May 2022 elections, further expressed hopes that the next generation of Filipinos would continue to sustain the lessons of the EDSA revolution in the years to come.

The famous 1986 peaceful revolt had paved the way for the ouster of Ferdinand Marcos and an end to martial law.

“May we continue to promote and uphold the lessons from this peaceful revolution, which has inspired other countries to pursue change devoid of guns and violence,” he said.

“Mabuhay ang mamamayang Pilipino! Tayong lahat ay mga bayani sa makabagong kasaysayan na ating binubuo ngayon (Long live the Filipino people! We are all heroes in this modern history that we are forming today),” the veteran lawmaker stressed.
