Barangay Ginebra San Miguel tries to end a three-game skid when it faces San Miguel Beer in another marquee encounter Sunday. Feb. 20 in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings face the Beermen at 6:45 p.m. as they aim to get back on track after a 3-0 start was negated by losses to the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots, Meralco Bolts and TNT Tropang Giga.

Ginebra’s slump began on Christmas Day with a 117-94 demolition by Magnolia before resuming its campaign last week following a long break due to COVID-19 with a 101-95 defeat to Meralco.

Last Friday saw the Gin Kings finding no answers to the Tropang Giga’s hot shooting from the three-point arc for a 119-92 setback.

Injuries have affected Ginebra’s campaign, with Stanley Pringle ruled out of the conference due to a knee injury and Sidney Onwubere nursing an ankle sprain.

Import Justin Brownlee, Christian Standhardinger, Scottie Thompson, LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar are still around but they are also groping for form as a collective unit.

San Miguel goes into the contest with a similar 3-3 slate and is smarting from a 96-81 loss to TNT last Wednesday.

A late barrage led by Tropang Giga star Mikey Williams put an end to the Beermen’s three-game winning run after starting the conference at 0-2.

In the first game, Meralco tries to bounce back from a stinging loss when it plays Rain or Shine at 4 p.m.

The Bolts saw their unbeaten start halted after four games when they blew a 19-point lead at the start and lost 109-98 to NorthPort, which also started the conference at 0-5.

Rain or Shine is out to bounce back after being defeated by Alaska, 80-74, Thursday.
