Onic Philippines captain Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy and star jungler Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol are aiming to complete the unfinished business in the MPL Philippines Season 9 after falling short in S8 and in the M3 World Championship last year.
After a string of bridesmaid finishes to Blacklist International, Baloyskie wants to prove that his squad is more than just a runner-up team.
“Sa'kin, gusto naming patunayan na 'di lang kami pang runner-up, 'di lang sa Pilipinas kundi sa ibang bansa,” said Baloyskie in the aftermath of its 2-1 victory over the same team that beat them twice in the Grand Finals in MPL S8 and M3 last year.
Kairi also shared the same thought as he aims to help his squad overcome the hump and finally win it all this season.
“Gusto namin mag number one sa regular season tapos ipagpatuloy namin ung lakas namin, na mag-dominate hanggang sa mag playoffs at magchampion, 'yun 'yung goal namin this season,” echoed Kairi.
Onic PH started its bid for that goal on the right foot as it took down Blacklist in the season opener, 2-1, and it was Kairi who actually showed the way in his team’s first win of the season.
‘The Present’ displayed why he’s regarded as one of the best jungle players in the world after an impressive showing on his signature Lancelot with a 7-1-4 KDA. He also took over in the deciding game with a rousing 8-2-7 line on the rarely picked Fanny.
“Nung mga nakaraang season po hirap na hirap ako (mag Fanny) kasi kabado pa ako nun eh pero ngayon nagkaconfidence na ako mag-Fanny tas yung iba pang mga hero kaya maayos ko naman na nagagamit,” shared Kairi.
Onic PH will continue its road to supremacy when it battles Nexplay Evos on Sunday at 4pm.
