New PJA officers, regional directors take oath


Chief Justice Gesmundo administers oath of office to officers of Philippine Judges Association

Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo administered the oath of office to the 2022-2023 national officers and regional directors of the Philippine Judges Association (PJA) during a hybrid oath-taking ceremony held Friday, Feb. 18, at the Supreme Court’s (SC) session hall.

In a photo release, the SC’s public information office (PIO) said the new PJA officers are Judge Danilo S. Cruz, president; Judge Byron G. San Pedro, executive vice president; Judge Acerey C. Pacheco, senior vice president; Judge Gener M. Gito, vice president-administration; Judge Maria Paz R. Reyes-Yson, vice president-external affairs; Judge Caridad V. Galvez, vice president-internal affairs;

Judge Teresa E. De Guzman-Alvarez, vice president-finance; Judge Pablo C. Formaran III, vice president-legal affairs; Judge Lily Lydia A. Laquindanum, vice president-research and judicial education; Judge Mia Joy O. Oallares-Cawed, vice president-special projects; Judge Elisa R. Sarmiento-Flores, secretary general Judge Hannah Cynara L. Cayton, treasurer;

Judge Mary Charlene V. Hernandez-Azura, auditor; Judge Pia Cristina B. BersaminEmbuscado, public relations officer; and Judge Tarcelo A. Sabarre, Jr., business Manager.

The PIO said the PJA regional directors and deputies joined the oath-taking ceremony via Zoom.

It said: “The PJA is the only association of Regional Trial Court judges that is duly recognized by the Supreme Court. It aims to unite all judges of the RTCs, Sharia District Courts, and all such other courts of equal or similar jurisdictions; preserve and maintain the integrity and independence of the Judiciary by ensuring an efficient and speedy dispensation of justice under the rule of law; and foster a more fraternal relationship among its members by promoting cooperation and mutual understanding among them.”
