A 41-year-old man was arrested by police shortly after he allegedly shot his live-in partner dead inside a hotel due to jealousy in Malate, Manila on Friday morning, Feb. 18.

Police Lt. Adonis Aguila, chief of Manila Police District (MPD) Homicide Section, said the suspect, identified as Ronald Campos, 41, was arrested by members of the Adriatico Police Community Precinct after shooting his partner Charmaine Joy Gemino, 28, using a 9mm pistol.

The shooting occurred at around 6:10 a.m. inside a hotel located at the corner of Adriatico St. And Quirino Avenue in Malate.

Initial investigation showed that the couple argued after Campos confronted Gemino over her alleged affair with another man.

During their argument, the suspect embraced the victim and shot her multiple times, according to the police report.

Campos fled on board a taxicab, but a hotel staff who saw him immediately called the Adriatico Police Community Precinct for assistance. The cops arrested the suspect after a brief chase.

Gemino was rushed to the Ospital ng Maynila but she was declared dead on arrival at 6:43 a.m.

Police recovered from the suspect a 9mm pistol with a magazine loaded with a live bullet.

The suspect will be charged with murder, the MPD said. (Terence Ranis)
