WAP selects SEAG-bound archery team

Husband-and-wife tandem Paul and Rachelle Dela Cruz banner the composition of the national archery team that will compete in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam in May.

The Dela Cruz pair is expected to defend their title in the mixed team compound event to become the lone Filipino medalist in the sport at the 2019 edition that the country hosted.

The men’s compound team, meanwhile, will be composed of Paul Dela Cruz, Johann Olano and former recurve expert Flor Matan. Arnold Rojas and Nino Maandig are selected as reserves.

Three-time SEAG gold medalist and 2000 Sydney Olympian Jennifer Chan, for her part, banners the women’s compound selection that is composed of Rachelle Dela Cruz and Andrea Robles. Daphne Austria and Abby Tindugan are listed as reserves.

Comprising the men’s recurve team are Jason Feliciano, Jonathan Reaport, Girvin Garcia, Riley Silo, Chkeil Enecio, Gabrielle and Pia Bidaure, Phoebe Amistoso, Damariz Gabrielle Calera and Ketura Gonzalez.

The selection was held during a five-day national trials held recently at the Olympic Range in Marikina City.

The SEAG-bound team is scheduled to undergo a 20-day training camp in Marikina City starting Sunday as part of their preparation for the Asia Cup set March 12 to 20 in Phuket, Thailand.
