Radioman arrested for 4 counts of cyberlibel


LIGAN CITY ~~~ Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) personnel arrested a radio broadcaster for four counts of cyberlibel at the Radio Bandera office/station, Marieta Tower Building here on Wednesday, Feb.16.

Police Station 2 Officer-in-charge Maj. Marvin C. Cajegas said arrested was Eleno Gellica Bacus, Jr., a broadcaster and resident of Zone Neptune 1, Suarez here.

Bacus is running for city councilor in the May 2022 election.

The warrant of arrest for violation of Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (RA 10175) with Criminal Case Nos. 22-26015, 22-26016, 22-26017 and 22-26018 with bail recommended of P60,000.00 was signed and issued by Presiding Judge Silvestre Dacanay Orejana Jr, RTC, Branch 5, 10th Judicial Region, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.

Atty. Leo Zaragoza firmly said he would not withdraw the case he filed in 2019 against Bacus for what he called "excessive unreasonable slander through his radio program."

"He should be in jail and should not be forgiven," Zaragoza said.
