Health reform advocate and former National Task Force (NTF) against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) special adviser Dr. Anthony “Tony” Leachon said that the use of face masks “will be a way of life.”

“Face masks should be worn at all times until the threat of the virus is over. This will be a way of life,” said Leachon in a Facebook post.

The statement came after the country’s vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez said that the mandatory use of face masks will “most likely” be dropped by the fourth quarter of the year.

Meanwhile, NTF against COVID-19 special adviser Dr. Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, in the “Laging Handa” public briefing on Wednesday, Feb. 16, likewise stated that the face mask rule “can be lifted” if the majority of the Filipinos are protected against the viral transmission of the disease.
