Lacson on Isko’s offer of a gov’t post : ‘Thanks, but I intend to win’

Partido Reporma standard bearer Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Thursday turned down the offer of fellow presidential candidate Manila City mayor Isko Moreno saying he intends to win in the upcoming May 2022 elections even though he lags in the preferential surveys.

Earlier, Moreno said he is considering giving Lacson a chance to be part of his administration should he get elected as president.

“I thank the Manila mayor for the kind words but I also intend to win,” Lacson said during a Meet the Press forum with his running mate Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

“Paano nya ako ia-appoint pag nanalo ako (How can he appoint me if I win)?” Lacson pointed out.

Nevertheless, Lacson thanked Moreno for recognizing his abilities and solid experience in public service.

“Salamat kay mayor na in-acknowledge nya ang kakayahan natin (Thanks to the mayor for acknowledging our capabilities),” Lacson said.

Moreno, the Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer, mentioned Lacson as one of the personalities he intends to invite to be part of his administration should he win in May.

According to Moreno, Lacson is “an asset of the country” and has a particular “skill set” that would help the government especially in the fight against corruption.

Based on the latest Pulse Asia survey, Moreno ranks third for the most preferred presidential candidate, while Lacson has a four percent voter preference.
