Carmona, Cavite inaugurates 3 infrastructure projects as part of Sorteo Festival celebration


CARMONA, Cavite – The municipal government inaugurated three new buildings on Thursday (Feb. 17) as part of the celebration for its triennial Sorteo Festival.

Cavite 5th District Rep. Dahlia A. Loyola and Mayor Roy M. Loyola led the inauguration of Herminia L. Zamora Day Care Center in Barangay 5; Carmona’s Haven of Peace Viewing Chapel, Crematorium, Columbarium in Barangay Maduya; and Angelo L. Loyola Senior High School Administration Building in Barangay Lantic.

St. Joseph Parish Church parish priest Rev. Fr. Ariel Delos Reyes led the blessing of the three projects.

In his speech at the launch of the new senior high school administration building streamed live through Facebook, Mayor Loyola said that the local government unit (LGU) is planning to introduce innovations in its local public school education system.

These include reincorporating the subject Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) into the curriculum to inculcate respect and social graces among students.

Sorteo Festival, a celebration held every three years, started in 1861 during Spanish colonization as a way to raffle communal agricultural lands among locals.

This year's lottery is set to start on Feb. 20 and will last until Feb. 23.
