Cop nabbed in Caloocan after stealing motorcycle in Malabon – police


A police officer was arrested in Caloocan City shortly after he allegedly stole a motorcycle in Malabon City on Tuesday evening, Feb. 15.

The Malabon City Police Station (MCPS) identified the suspect as Corporal Jomar Castillo, 32, assigned to Pasig City Police Station and a resident of Caloocan City.

According to the police, the victim, Niño Joseph Adriano, 27, an information technology (IT) personnel, immediately reported to the MCPS after he noticed that his motorcycle was stolen at the corner of Gen. Luna and Bernardo Streets in Brgy. Concepion, Malabon on Tuesday at around 11:35 p.m.

With the help of the Global Positioning System (GPS) installed on the motorcycle, joint operatives of the MCPS and Caloocan City Police Station Tuna Substation located the suspect on Tuna St. in Caloocan at around 11:50 p.m., leading to his arrest.

Authorities recovered from the suspect the stolen XMAX 300 motorcycle worth P260,000, a Jericho 45 FS firearm, and a plastic sachet of alleged shabu valued at P29,104.

The MCPS said that the suspect was referred to the Northern Police District (NPD) Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU).

The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, Omnibus Election Codes and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
