Jeremy Pacatiw plans to utilize footwork, speed in big match against Andrade

Jeremy Pacatiw (ONE Championship)

Jeremy “The Juggernaut” Pacatiw plans to keep his winning ways in ONE Championship when he faces #4-ranked Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade at ONE: FULL CIRCLE on February 25 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The Filipino dynamo had a debut to remember at ONE: BATTLEGROUND last year when he ran circles around “The Ghost” Chen Rui en route to a convincing unanimous decision win.

Having scouted Andrade, Pacatiw believes the best course of action is to utilize the same tactics in his debut because the Brazilian is at his best with his foot planted.

“We’re pretty much keeping our game plan from the first fight, utilize my footwork and keep moving. If I stay put, plant my feet, and trade punches with him, that could put me in a very tough spot against him because that’s his game,” he said.

“I have to use my speed, footwork, and keep him guessing and take him off his rhythm. That’s one of my weapons - my footwork.”

While he’s happy with his debut, the 25-year-old feels that he still has much room for improvement.

“The Juggernaut” was a bit critical with his outing against the Chinese powerhouse, feeling that he could have finished the match if he didn’t second guess some of his actions inside the Circle.

“I learned that hesitating will do me no good. I have to be more decisive. As coach Mark told me, ‘Hesitation is cancer.’ So, in this fight, I have to trust myself more,” Pacatiw shared.

“I have to build the confidence that I can land those critical strikes when the opportunity presents itself. So yeah, one thing that I’ll be bringing in this fight is killing instinct.”

If given a chance, the Team Lakay mainstay could see himself finishing Andrade, but that doesn’t mean he’ll overextend himself to achieve an early ending.

“A win is a win, so I’ll take anything. But, of course, I’ll be looking at that finish. Hopefully, I get a knockout or submission,” the Benguet-based combatant shared.

“At the end of the day, the goal is to win whether it be via submission, knockout, or even decision.”
