A total of 2,614 aspiring police officers have passed the entrance examination for the Philippine National Police (PNP) as the government continue to hire more cops to replace those who were dismissed and opted out of the police service and to improve the police to population ratio in the country.

The National Police Commission said those who passed the examination represent 13.7 percent of those who took the examinations in various parts of the country from Nov. 26 to 28 and from Dec. 18-19, both last year.

Of the figure, a total of 1,975 out of 15,193 examinees passed the Nov. 26-28 exams, while 639 passers out of the 3,870 passed the Special PNP Entrance Examination on Dec. 18-19.

Vitaliano N. Aguirre II, Napolcom Vice Chairman and Executive Officer (VCEO), also disclosed that a total of 1,531 uniformed police personnel hurdled the Promotional Examinations (PROMEX).

The combined 1,531 PROMEX passers constitute 31.85 percent of the 4,963 in-service police officers who took the regular promotional examinations, broken down per category as follows: Police Officer 1st Class Examination for Police Major and Police Lieutenant Colonel (51 passers); Police Officer 2nd Class Examination for Police Lieutenant and Police Captain (158 passers); Police Officer 3rd Class Examination for Police Master Sergeant, Police Senior Master Sergeant, Police Chief Master Sergeant and Police Executive Master Sergeant (259 passers); and Police Officer 4th Class Examination for Police Corporal and Police Staff Sergeant (1,063 passers).

"The eligibility conferred upon passing the PNPE Examination is one of the requirements for appointment in the PNP as a Patrolman/Patrolwoman, while passing the promotional examination is considered appropriate for promotion to a higher rank," said Aguirre.

“The release of the results of police examinations is in consonance with the Napolcom’s commitment to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to make available the examination results within forty-five (45) working days from the date of the examinations,” he added.

The list of successful examinees will be posted at the Napolcom Central Office located at Napolcom Building at EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, West Triangle, Quezon City and can be viewed at the NAPOLCOM website (www.napolcom.gov.ph) and at the Commission’s official Facebook page at (@NationalPoliceCommission).

Individual Certificate of Eligibility and Report of Rating will be sent by mail to all examinees. Certification of successful examinees may be issued upon request at the Napolcom Central and Regional Offices.
