Toyota launches the all-new Raize

Toyota Motor Philippines unveiled their latest offering online, the Raize small SUV. The Raize is now their smallest SUV and combines the SUV experience with the convenience of a small vehicle. It’s available in four variants: the 1.0 Turbo, 1.2G CVT, 1.2E CVT and 1.2E MT. This now expands Toyota’s SUV lineup to five: including the Fortuner mid-sized SUV and three crossover SUV’s offered locally; the RAV4, Corolla Cross and the Rush.

Exterior

The Raize was designed and developed to be compact and easy to drive, perfect for daily use and capable of road trips on weekends. The 1.0L Turbo and 1.2G CVT are equipped with split-type LED headlights, while the 1.2E CVT and 1.2 E MT has sport halogen headlights. All variants have daytime running lights and halogen fog lights. At the back are LED combination lamps for all variants.

Side mirrors have turn signal indicators on all variants and are power adjustable folding on the 1.0L Turbo and 1.2G CVT. All are also equipped with a rear windshield wiper, a tailgate spoiler and a fin type antenna.

Interior

All variants have keyless entry, while the top two variants have Smart Entry. The engine is started by a Push-Start button for the top two variants. The 1.2E MT and the 1.2E CVT are equipped with an optitron instrument cluster, and there’s an all-digital cluster for the 1.2G CVT and 1.0 Turbo.

The steering wheel comes with electric power steering and is tilt adjustable. There are steering wheel-mounted audio controls for the 1.2E MT; audio and Power mode for the 1.2 E CVT and audio; and Power mode and multi-information display controls for the 1.2 G CVT and 1.0 Turbo.

The entertainment system has a nine-inch screen and six-speakers for the top variant. The rest get an eight-inch screen with four-speakers. All are have radio, Bluetooth, USB, voice command, and are Android Auto and Apple Carplay capable. For convenience, there are two USB chargers and a 12V socket up front. The 1.0 Turbo and 1.2G CVT have mix of fabric/synthetic leather upholstery and the 1.2E CVT and 1.2E MT have fabric. The rear seats are 60:40 split. All variants have power windows with Auto- and Jam-Protect for the driver.

Powerplant

The Raize is available in two power plant options. The top of the line variant has the 1KR-VET turbo charged three-cylinder 1.0L gasoline 12-valve DOHC engine with VVT-I, which puts out maximum power of 98-Ps at 6,000 rpm with 140-Nm of torque between 2,400-4,000rpm.

The G CVT, E CVT and MT variants are powered by the WA-VE three-cylinder 1.2L gasoline 12-valve DOHC engine with Dual VVT-i which puts out max power of 88-Ps at 6,000 rpm and 113-Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.

Both engine options are mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Exclusive to the 1.0 Turbo are the addition of paddle shifters.  

Safety

The 1.0 Turbo is equipped with driver, passenger, front side and curtain shield airbags. The rest have driver and passenger airbags. All have Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill Start Assist (HAS). All five seats get three-point seatbelts, while the front occupants have pre-tensioners and force limiters. The 1.0 Turbo and 1.2G CVT are equipped with a back-up monitor with guidelines, and clearance sonars.

Colors, price and availability

The 1.0 Turbo CVT is priced at P1,036,000 for the two-tone white pearl / black color. It’s priced at P1,031,000 for the two-tone Turquiose Mica Metallic / black and yellow / black color variants. The 1.2 G CVT is priced at P906,000, with an exclusive red color. The 1.2 E CVT is P816,000, and the 1.2 E MT is P746,000 and available in Gray Metallic and Silver Metallic. The all-new Raize is now available at all Toyota dealers nationwide.
