Campaign to ensure smooth elections in Region 7 launched


CEBU CITY — The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) has launched "Kasimbayanan", a program that aims to ensure a "secured, accurate, free, and fair" elections in the region.

Officials of PRO-7, Commission on Elections (Comelec-7), Armed Forces of the Philippines-Visayas Command as well as representatives of Parish Pastoral Council For Responsible Voting, National Citizen's Movement for Free Elections and other government agencies signed a "Pledge of Commitment" to help make the upcoming elections a peaceful one.

Police Brig Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, chief of PRO-7, assured that the police are taking necessary steps to achieve the goal of the program.

"While we have intensified our campaign against illegal drugs and all forms of crime, we will also strengthen our campaign to ensure a safe, peaceful and honest elections this May," Roque said.

Lawyer Ferdinand Gujilde, regional election attorney and spokesperson of Comelec-7, thanked the PRO-7 for launching the initiative.

Gujilde reminded that the public also jas a role to play to ensure a peaceful elections.

"Ensuring an orderly election is also a responsibility of the community and not just by our law enforcement agencies and various sectors," Gujilde said.
