In a statement on Tuesday, Feb. 8, PWU also cautioned against disinformation as the May 2022 election nears.

"Amid a culture of rampant disinformation, PWU remains a bastion of intellectual integrity. As such, we call on the community to reject peddlers of fake news and be more discerning and critical of information sources to avoid becoming unwitting outlets of viral half-truths or outright fake news," PWU said.

"Only by basing our choices on facts, reason, and truth are we able to elect leaders who will faithfully give voice to our aspirations and hope for our country's future," it added.

Meanwhile, PWU also reminded the voting public to respect the opinions and choices of fellow Filipinos "whether they conform with us or not."

"A strong democracy does not require us all to agree on our choice of leaders, but it does require that we all respect and defend each other's right to choose," the University stressed.

" call on all Filipinos to help ensure that the coming elections be conducted in an honest, truthful, and transparent manner. May our principles and actions be guided by our love for our fellow Filipinos, and by our unwavering faith in the Divine Power."
