556 Western Visayas cops complete counter-insurgency course

A total of 556 personnel of the Western Visayas regional police have completed the Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC) in a move to strengthen the counter-insurgency and law enforcement operational capability of the police in the region.

Brig. Gen. Flynn E. Dongbo, director of the Police Regional Office 6, said the course equips the new breed of police officers with the necessary knowledge and skills on counter-insurgency operations, both on rural or urban terrain.

"BISOC is a mandatory training for police officers. It also develops and hones their values and attitude to enable them to be adaptable to any environment. It also makes them capable and responsible to handle any assigned tasks," said Dongbo.

Of the 566 total graduates, 518 are males and 48 are females.

Their training started last October 2021 at the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company located at Camp Jalandoni, Barangay Zerrudo, Sara, Iloilo.

In his speech during the closing ceremony at Camp Martin Teofilo Delgado in Iloilo City, Dongbo reminded the neophyte police officers to perform professionally and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the organization once they are deployed to actual duties in the field.

“Congratulations to all of you for satisfactorily surpassing and finishing your rigid course. We train and prepare you for the battle you will be facing in the future. You’re training has ended, but this marks the start of another challenging journey as law enforcers," said Dongbo.

"You will be deployed anywhere in the region. You will be performing different tasks such as anti-insurgency, public safety and special law enforcement operations. With the high demand of our job, may you apply all the lessons you’ve learned from your trainings and use these in accordance to our mandate," he added.
