2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is now in the PH

New Mercedes-Benz E-Class to only come in AMG Line

Mercedes-Benz updates the six-year-old E-Class for the 2022 model year, giving it a refreshed body using restyled equipment and smarter cabin amenities, including a new steering wheel.

Initially slated for a 2021 launch, it arrives only this year due to the parts and semiconductor chips shortage caused by worldwide lockdown in 2020.

The fascia is highlighted by a redesigned grille with chrome diamond pins, high-gloss black inserts, and redesigned LED high-performance headlamps. At the back, it gets new two-piece LED taillights.

Inside, the 2022 E-Class comes with 12.3-inch displays arranged side-by-side for a wider appearance. It is now equipped with the brand’s MBUX multimedia system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and responds to voice commands initiated by saying ‘Hey Mercedes.’ New to the cabin is the multifunction sports steering wheel in Nappa leather.

As a true executive sedan, it also comes with power-closing doors, wireless charging, a Burmester surround sound system, electric roller blinds for the rear window and second-row windows, THERMATIC automatic climate control, LED ambient lighting with 64 colors, and power-adjustable front seats with memory function.

Unlike the years past, the 2022 E-Class will only come in one variant. Mercedes-Benz drops the E 180 Avantgarde and E 200 Avantgarde but retains the E-Class E 200 AMG Line. As such, it will come with AMG floor mats and stainless steel sports pedals, and will sit on 19-inch AMG five-twin spoke light alloy wheels in tantalite gray with a high-sheen finish. It comes with run-flat tires.

The 2022 E-Class is still powered by the same 2.0L inline four-cylinder turbo engine that sends a total of 197 PS and 320 Nm of torque to the wheels via a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission. It features an ECO start/stop function for better fuel economy.

Safety features include PRE-SAFE system, Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist, Acceleration Slip Regulation, Urban Guard vehicle protection, Hill-Start Assist, Active Bonnet for pedestrian protection, and Active Parking Assist with an advanced reversing camera that provides support to the driver.

There are nine colors to choose from – Black, Graphite Grey, High-tech Silver, Mojave Silver, Nautic Blue, Polar White, Selenite Grey, Obsidian Black, and Hyacinth Red (with additional cost).

“The new E-Class offers a refined sportiness, impressive design, and dynamism. It embodies a synthesis of emotion and intelligence. It is loaded with next-generation driver assistance systems, comfort features, and safety technologies, that bring luxury experience to new levels and giving an even stronger impression.” said Frankie Ang, Chief Operating Officer at Auto Nation Group, Inc.
