3 killed, 2 hurt in alleged PAGs encounter


TACLOBAN CITY - The alleged presence of private armed groups (PAGs) in Samar province was once again felt when three men were killed, while two others were wounded in a shooting on Sunday (February 6) in Sta. Margarita, Samar.

The fatalities were identified as Ernesto Doinog, Jun-jun Deborbon, and Peddie Deborbon. Reportedly injured were Ronnie Medoranda and Gerry Deborbon.

Reports disclosed that the victims were on board motorcycles to Brgy. Roxas of said town when they were waylaid by a group of armed malefactors.

The surviving victims identified the assailants as members of the Managaysay Group, an alleged PAG in Samar.

They were identified as Jimmy Managaysay, Byetta Jolacao, Edito Ampoan aka Kier, Alfred Mañas, and other still unidentified individuals.

Meanwhile, a wanted person identified as Felipe Deborbon Calagos was arrested when he reportedly accompanied one of the injured victims while giving his statement to the police.

He was arrested through an alias warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Regional Trial Court of Calbayog Branch 31, on October 6, 2020, and with No Bail recommended.

It was also learned from the said warrant that one of the fatalities in the shooting incident, Jun-jun Deborbon, was also wanted for murder.
