Paranaque City marks 77th liberation anniversary; hails modern heroes


Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez gave recognition to frontliners, doctors, nurses, police, barangays and contact tracers as modern heroes in fighting the the COVID-19 pandemic during the city's 77th anniversary of its liberation.

Olivarez said that in the early years, the Philippines was conquered by the Spanish, Japanese, and Americans forces and the city veterans fought for the freedom of the country.

He said in this modern times, the city’s frontliners continue to fight the invisible enemy which is the coronavirus with the strict implementation of the PDITR (prevent, detection, integrate treatment and reintegration).

The mayor thanked them for their untiring work in helping the city government in curbing the spread of the virus in the city.

Olivarez lauded the police and the barangay officials for their strict implementation of the health protocols which is a big factor in controlling the spread of the disease in the city.
