Mandaluyong City to start COVID-19 vaccination for kids aged 5-11 on Feb. 8

The Mandaluyong City will start vaccinating children aged five to 11 against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Tuesday, Feb. 8, the local government announced on Thursday, Feb. 3.

The inoculation drive for the age group scheduled on Friday, Feb. 4, was postponed by the national government to ensure the adequate preparation and distribution of Pfizer vaccines to the vaccination sites.

The Department of Health (DOH) said that there were logistical challenges that led to the delay in the arrival of Pfizer vaccines.

The vaccines are expected to arrive on Friday evening, Feb. 4.

The city government earlier announced the vaccination of kids would be held on Feb. 5.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Feb. 3, the city government announced the guidelines for the vaccination for the kids.

Parents or guardians must register their children’s names using the MandaVax household code, which can be accessed on the MandaVax website (https://mandavax.mandaluyong.gov.ph), and wait for the verification.

A confirmatory text will be sent to the parents or guardians for the scheduled date of vaccination and timeslot.

The parents or guardians must bring their children’s identification cards (ID) on the day of vaccinations.

If the child does not have an ID, any document that will prove his/her age such as a passport, a school ID, a birth certificate or a baptismal certificate may be accepted.

An original copy and photocopy of the parents or guardians’ IDs are also required on the scheduled date.

An authorization letter and a copy of the parents’ IDs are needed if only the legal guardian is present during the child’s vaccination.

Meanwhile, if the child has comorbidities, a medical certificate from his or her pediatrician or physician that explains the child’s health conditions must be presented upon receiving the vaccine.

According to the city government, the child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the vaccination site. (Cherrylin Caacbay)
