The labor leader aired the belief that once granted, the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed unit, New People’s Army, will run out of justifiable reason to overthrow government.

(If this is settled, the NPA will no longer have any reason to bear arms. The problem is borne from the past),” he explained during the Panata ng Bayan Presidential Forum initiated by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).

He stressed that he abhors war as a way of reaching one’s objective.

(I do not agree in going to war. Nobody wins here except the capitalists who manufacture bullets and firearms),” explained De Guzman.

(We should pursue the battle against povery, global warming, an end to tarrification law.),” De Guzman said his way of ending the longest insurgency in the world is to grant the NPA’s demands which he believes are correct.

)Their demands are right like genuine implementation of land reform.),” he pointed out.

(There is injustice in our country. ONly the poor are jailed, the rich are not. If this is the brand of justice we have, we cannot stop them from arming themselves.)” De Guzman added.
