Bataan Bishop Ruperto C. Santos called on Filipino voters to choose leaders who embody the characteristics and virtues of St. Joseph (San Jose) in the coming national and local elections.
“Let us choose leaders who, like St. Joseph, have a servant heart, who is submissive to God,” the bishop said over Radio Veritas.
The Church leader said, the foster father of Jesus, has always followed God’s will before his own.
“Let us choose leaders who will work for the common good and who follows the will of God without hesitation, without question,” Bishop Santos said.
“We must choose someone who will accomplish something for us, someone who will work with us and for us. Let us vote for leaders who will always do God’s will first, keeping the law of God above all, above his personal interests and the interests of his relatives, friends, and party mates,” he stressed.
The prelate said a true leader is always ready to serve the Lord. “He makes sure that his leadership style is always pleasing to God. He protests the welfare of the family as well as the rights of workers and the poor sector of society,” Bishop Santos said.
“Let us choose someone who will work for our good, for the improvement of our welfare, and for the fulfillment of God’s law,” he said.
The Church leader reminded the electorate to pray for a discerning heart and mind before voting in the May elections.
