2 men caught with guns, shabu in Muntinlupa, Taguig


Two men were arrested by the police for possession of guns and illegal drugs in separate operations in Taguig and Muntinlupa on Feb. 2 and 3.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), personnel from the Taguig Police and Maritime group were conducting anti-criminality operation along Pinamana Street in Barangay Napidan, Taguig at 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 when they saw suspect Larry Gibson, 40, with a firearm bulging in his waist.

Authorities recovered from the suspect one .45-caliber firearm loaded with five live ammunition and one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing about 0.4 gram worth around P2,720.

During investigation, police found out that Gibson was involved in the shooting to death of John Leo Pascual on Jan. 27 in Barangay Napindan.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Taguig Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit.

Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa police arrested Jessie Bayben, 28, in Medina Compound in Barangay Sucat for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Taguig Police Sucat sub-station personnel were conducting “Oplan Galugad” when they saw the suspect standing in an alley with a firearm tucked in his waist.

Bayben failed to show any documents for his revolver loaded with five live ammunition, prompting the police to arrest him and confiscate the gun.

Police said Bayben will be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under Republic Act 10591 and violation of gun ban under Batas Pambansa 881 (Omnibus Election Code).
