Taguig LGU offers free antigen home testing

The Taguig City Government is now giving free antigen home testing to residents as part of its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) monitoring.

It is being implemented through the Taguig City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) and supervised and monitored by Lingap Testing coordinators.

The city government said the free antigen home testing is aimed especially to immunocompromised persons, bedridden patients, persons with disabilities and senior citizens with mobility issues.

The free antigen home testing is an addition to the city’s free reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests being done in 35 sites such as health centers, drive-thru testing, and mega swabbing facility.

As of Jan. 29, Taguig has 761 active COVID-19 cases, including 585 new cases out of 59,939 confirmed cases, 58,737 recoveries, and 441 deaths. The city government has also conducted 247,989 RT-PCR tests to date.

“I can attest that our response in ceasing the spread of the virus is a continued success. Proof of that is, Taguig continues to have the lowest case fatalities, and among the cities in Metro Manila, with the lowest fatality rate,” said Mayor Lino Cayetano.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has placed the National Capital Region (NCR) under Alert Level 2 from Alert Level 3. The Alert Level 2 will be in effect from Feb. 1 to 15.
