Police arrested four robbery suspects after a brief chase in Cubao, Quezon City on Thursday, Jan. 27.
Lt. Col. Elizabeth Jasmin, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Cubao Station (PS 7) commander, identified the suspects as Rumel Alvez, 39; Reynold Razon, 21; Kevin Avila, 28, all of Quiapo, Manila; and Jefferson Quiliza, 34, of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
According to the police report, complainants Julius Villasis, 20, and Jerico Tanudra, 19, both crews of a fastfood chain, were walking in front of a drugstore along Aurora Boulevard near Gen. Araneta St. in Brgy. Socorro, Cubao at around 2 p.m. on Thursday when the suspects approached them from behind and held them up at knifepoint.
The suspects took from the victims a bag, a wallet, automated teller machine (ATM) cards, two cellphones, charger, headset, P140 cash, and several identification cards.
The victims reported the incident to patrolling PS 7 personnel who immediately chased and arrested the suspects.
Police confiscated a folded weapon and an improvised fan knife from suspects Alvez and Avila but did not recover the stolen items.
The suspects will be charged with robbery.
Alvez and Avila will also face charges for violation of Batas Pambansa (B.P.) No. 881 of the Omnibus Election Code, the police said.
