W. Visayas Omicron cases rise to 42


ILOILO CITY—The number of COVID-19’s Omicron variant has risen to 42 in Western Visayas region.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) confirmed this after getting laboratory results from the Philippine Genome Center (PGC).

Based on DOH-6 data, 30 were local cases while 12 are from returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

As per area, the capital of Iloilo City had the most number of Omicron cases detected with 17. Twelve are local cases while five are returning OFWs.

The province of Capiz has 14 Omicron cases detected and are local cases.

The province of Iloilo has three cases, of which two are local and one returning OFW.

The province of Negros Occidental also has three Omicron cases detected, all of which are returning OFWs.

The provinces of Aklan and Guimaras each had two Omicron cases detected. In each area, there was one local case and one returning OFW.

Bacolod City only has one case, a returning OFW.

Only Antique province does not have a confirmed Omicron case yet.
