Navotas LGU distributes rice, chicken to over 14,000 families

A total of 14,157 families in Navotas City each received five kilograms of rice and one whole raw chicken from the local government on Wednesday, Jan. 26.

Mayor Toby Tiangco and Rep. John Rey Tiangco led the first day of distribution, which is part of the activities for the celebration of the city's 116th founding anniversary last Jan. 16.

The local government said that it purchased 80,317 packs of rice in December which will be given to more than 80,000 families in the city.

Tiangco said that the original schedule for the distribution of the gifts was on Jan.14 to 16 but was moved to prioritize the delivery of medicines and vitamins to the families.

The city has already distributed medicines such as paracetamol and Vitamin C to 87,315 families.

"We thank Navoteños for patiently waiting for us to bring our Navotas Day regalo (gift) to them. We also thank everyone who helped make this activity a success - from the purchase of the items to the receipt from suppliers to the delivery to each Navoteño family," Tiangco said.

"We will strive to complete the distribution within one week so stay home, if you have nothing important to do outside, and wait for us to visit your area," he added.
