LPA brings isolated rains in Kalayaan Islands; shear line prevails over N. Luzon – PAGASA

Isolated rains may be experienced in Kalayaan Islands due to the low pressure area (LPA), while the shear line or the convergence of warm and cold winds, may bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the eastern section of northern Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Jan, 27.

“Patuloy na maulap na papawirin na may kalat-kalat na pagulan at pagkulog d’yan sa may Cagayan kasama na ang parts of Aurora. Dala pa rin ‘yan ng shear line na patuloy na nakakaapekto dito sa silangang bahagi ng hilagang Luzon (The shear line, which continuously affects Luzon, brings cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in Cagayan, as well as parts of Aurora.),” said PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario in a public weather forecast.

Residents of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Kalayaan Islands were advised to remain vigilant against the possible impacts of the shear line and the LPA such as flooding and landslides that may occur during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Ordinario said that the LPA was last spotted in the boundary of the country’s area of responsibility.

“Samantalang itong ating LPA na binabantayan ay nasa boundary na ng ating area of responsibility at nasa layong 165 kilometers (km) southeast of Kalayaan Islands kaya patuloy itong nagdudulot ng makulimlim na panahon na may kalat-kalat na pagulan at pagkidlat at pagkulog d’yan nga sa Kalayaan Islands (Meanwhile, the LPA was last spotted in the boundary of the country’s area of responsibility and it is located 165 km southeast of Kalayaan Islands, that’s why it is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the area),” said Ordinario.

Moreover, in the next 24 hours, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
