DOH lists 18k more COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) listed 18,191 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections on Thursday, Jan. 27.

The majority of the cases reported were from Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and Davao Region.

There were also 22,014 more recoveries and 74 fatalities recorded on Thursday.

The recovery tally jumped to 3,213,190 while the death count soared to 53,736, the DOH said.

Recoveries and deaths left the number of active infections nationwide to 226,521 or patients who are still receiving treatment or undergoing quarantine.

Most of the active cases or 214,857 patients have mild symptoms. There are 6,875 who have no symptoms, 2,971 are in moderate condition, 1,509 are severely sick, while 309 are in critical condition.

A total of 3,493,447 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been officially recorded in the Philippines since 2020, the DOH said.
