CAVITE – The provincial board announced on Tuesday (Jan. 25) the approval of a provincial ordinance appropriating funds to grant cash gifts to nonagenarian citizens.

The policy aims to recognize the elderly who are considered to be sterling examples of citizens leading exemplary long lives.

People aged 90 to 99 years who have been a resident of Cavite for at least five years will be given a certificate and a cash gift of P5,000 during the Annual Filipino Elderly Week every October in addition to other benefits and privileges granted under existing laws and ordinances.

The ordinance states that there will be annual appropriations for the cash gifts to be included in the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office fund.
