MMDA, DOTr launch mobile vax drive at PITX

To make vaccination and booster shots more accessible to residents, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) launched on Monday, Jan. 24, the “We Vax as One: Mobile Vaccination Drive” at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

But MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos said the vaccination site at the PITX is just one of the sites that they want to put up in Metro Manila.

“The mobile vaccination drive at PITX is our pilot site, and we plan to expand this to more accessible sites as we go along,” Abalos said.

A total of 20 nurses and a doctor currently man the mobile vaccination drive at the PITX. It will run until Jan. 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, which targets to accommodate up to 500 individuals per day.

Aside from setting up new locations vaccination sites, Abalos also highlighted the importance of booster shots which, according to the Department of Health-National Capital Region Regional Director Dr. Gloria J. Balboa, will help local government units (LGUs) with their vaccination targets.

The MMDA Chairman said it would be accessible for people when vaccination sites are at strategic locations.

“We have been deploying our vaccinators not only in Metro Manila but in other places all over the country. We are passionate towards the goal of having everyone fully vaccinated and have booster shots,” said Abalos.

In line with the agency’s objective, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Administrative Service Artemio Tuazon, Jr. said they plan to set up vaccination centers at airports, seaports, train stations, and exit points of expressways.
