Gun-for-hire nabbed in Cabuyao, Laguna


CABUYAO, Laguna – Policemen arrested a member of the Bascogin Criminal Group in Barangay Marinig, Cabuyao on Saturday (Jan. 22).

According to a statement released by the Laguna Police Provincial Office, Alexander Acibar Marino, 29, was apprehended after the police served the warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Regional Trial Court 4th Judicial Region, Branch 108, Cabuyao City.

Authorities confiscated from Marino a caliber .45 pistol, a silencer, magazines, and reloaded live ammunitions.

Marino is the suspect in two shooting incidents in Cabuyao in August and October 2021.

The Bascogin Criminal Group is a robbery and gun-for-hire group that operates in Laguna and nearby provinces.

In a statement, Laguna Police Acting Provincial Director Col. Rogarth B. Campo said the arrest of Marino is part of the police force's sustained efforts to take down the criminal group.
