Travel again and help Visayas get back on its feet

AID TO TOURISM Traveling again to the pristine beaches of Newcoast Boracay or stay in any of Megaworld Hotels and Resorts properties. A portion of your stay directly goes to MHR’s Rebuild Recover Visayas Project to help schools in Mactan Cebu devastated by Typhoon Odette

Starting your year right should include travel plans in your schedule. Doing it while helping communities rebuild and recover should be one of the best ways for you to set the tone this 2022.

With the opportunity for safe travels coming back again this year, Megaworld Hotels and Resorts with all its 11 properties and 4,500 rooms across the Philippines is currently on a mission called the “Rebuild Recover Visayas.”

The project aims to raise funds for areas in Mactan, Cebu devastated by Typhoon Odette. When you stay at Belmont Hotel Manila or Savoy Hotel Manila within Newport City in Pasay across NAIA terminal 3, Kingsford Hotel Manila at Entertainment City in Paranaque, Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Twin Lakes Hotel near Tagaytay, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City, Richmonde Hotel Ortigas in Pasig, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo at Iloilo Business Park in Iloilo City, Belmont Hotel Boracay or Savoy Hotel Boracay at the Newcoast Boracay, or even at Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown in Cebu, trust that a portion of your nightly stays within the month of January of this year will automatically proceed to the cause. Dining guests may also have the option to donate by informing the restaurant’s wait staff before billing out.

VACATION THAT HELPS Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, staying with properties like Richmonde Hotel Ortigas or any of Megaworld Hotels and Resorts’ locations is a huge help to rebuild Visayas

“It saddens us that we ended 2021 with a strong typhoon Odette that devastated many parts of the Visayas and Mindanao regions, stripping homes and businesses of its necessities,” says Cleofe Albiso, managing director and a local of Cebu City. “What’s inspiring though is that despite the personal battles we are faced with and amid the pandemic, people’s willingness to help and extend assistance is just as strong.”

‘What’s inspiring is that despite the personal battles we are faced with and amid the pandemic, people’s willingness to help and extend assistance is just as strong.’

There has been an initial campaign among associates in the Megaworld group to help employees affected by the typhoon and the response was overwhelming. Hotel property employees have already successfully gathered and distributed ₱200,000 worth of donations through relief packs and cash donations. A total of 125 families will be receiving tote bags containing essentials like water, canned and dry goods, as well as clothing among other items. “Tis is a testament to people’s willingness to help and share,” adds Albiso. “We are extending this opportunity to help our guests and partners.”

WORK AS ONE An initial effort of 127 families will benefit from the relief packs prepared by MHR

The company’s next focus is targeting specific schools that need help in rebuilding. All donations will go to construction materials and manpower plus school supplies necessary for kids to get back to a more conducive learning experience again. Our team through Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown is currently surveying possible schools within Mactan in dire need of this assistance,” says

Albiso. The project will take at least a month to finish depending on the damage and how soon help and supplies can come in to start the construction phase.
