Pateros LGU to launch drive-thru booster vaccination

The Pateros municipal government will launch its drive-thru booster vaccination on Jan. 24 to increase the number of people getting the additional shots.

Pateros Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce III announced that the drive-thru booster vaccination is limited to those 18 to 65 years old with no comorbidity and for people who received the first and second doses in the municipality.

He said the drive-thru vaccination is aimed at increasing the number of booster recipients and preventing crowding at vaccination sites in preparation for the inoculation of minors aged 5 to 11.

The Pateros municipal government currently administers first and second doses to minors aged 12 to 17 and adults. Walk-ins are allowed for Pateros residents.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), all fully vaccinated adults aged 18 and above are eligible to get a single-dose booster shot at least three months after receiving their second dose of AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinovac (CoronaVac) and Sputnik V.

Those who received the single-shot Janssen vaccine can get their booster shot at least two months after inoculation. The DOH is not recommending booster shots for 12 to 17 years old.

Ponce said the drive-thru booster vaccination will be held at the Pateros Catholic School-Annex.

For the drive-thru booster vaccination, the Pateros municipal government launched a QR code that eligible adults can scan and sign up for. They need to list their name, phone number, patient ID number (that can be found in the Pateros vaccination booklet), date of their second dose and digital signature.

Registrants will receive a confirmation on their schedule. Ponce said initially, 200 registrants will be scheduled for the drive-thru booster shots.

Vehicles that will be allowed for the drive-thru booster vaccination are those with three and four wheels including tricycles, cars and jeepneys. The driver will not be allowed to receive the booster shot.

After getting their booster shots, the passengers will have to wait for three to five minutes for observation.

Those who are not eligible for the drive-thru vaccination can get their booster shots at Pateros vaccination sites.
