“Masaya ako para sa inyo. Nagbitaw ako ng salita sa inyo (I’m happy for all of you. I gave my word to all of you) and today there is a proof for it,” Domagoso during the inauguration of the newly renovated Plaza Asuncion in Malate on Monday, Jan. 17.

Nabawi natin, tapos nagka-pandemya, pero nagawa natin (The people of Leveriza have long hoped for it to be returned to them while I was still the vice mayor. It has been turned into a shooting range, there were dogs, cats, solvent boys, old cars. I said that if I become mayor, and with God's mercy, I will fix it. We have recovered, then there was a pandemic, but we did it),” he added.

Creating more green spaces in the city is just one of Domagoso’s goals for the people of Manila since he was elected as the city mayor.

It used to be that there seemed to be no government here, it was dark here, and there were piles of garbage. At least now, the place is now pleasant),” he added.

The newly renovated Plaza Asuncion now has fountains, good quality benches, and speakers for background music.

The Manila mayor also launched the newly-rehabilitated Manila Zoo, the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila, vertical housing like Tondominium and Binondominium, and the new Manila Science High School.

Yung natikman ko na kahirapan noong araw, huwag matikman ng mga anak ninyo (You just don't know how much I love all of you. The poverty I experienced early in my life I do not want your children to experience it),” Domagoso said.

Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, meanwhile, praised Domagoso’s leadership in the city as well as his love for the Manilenos.

He didn't mind losing sleep and was quick to act and respond to the needs of his constituents, especially this time when we are facing a global health crisis),” Lacuna said.

“Ang Yorme sa puso nating mga Manilenyo, at pinunong kailangan ng bawat Filipino (He is the mayor in the hearts of Manilanyos, and a leader every Filipino needs),” she said.
