Honda wins 6 awards on ASEAN NCAPS’S 10th Anniversary

Honda cars received six awards on the 10-year anniversary celebration of the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP). This makes Honda the most awarded manufacturer from the event. This achievement highlights Honda’s commitment to everyone sharing the road, knowing they can safely and confidently enjoy the freedom of mobility.

Over 10 years, Honda has eight models tested at ASEAN NCAP and achieved several excellent results and ratings. During this period ASEAN NCAP has developed three roadmaps (protocol) that are for 2012-2016, 2017-2020 and 2021-2025. Under the latest roadmap 2021-2025, it covers four assessment domains comprising Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Safety Assist and Motorcyclist Safety.

In conjunction with the 10-year anniversary, ASEAN NCAP announced various awards to commemorate its Decade of Vehicle Awards to several vehicle manufacturers. Honda is the most successful manufacturer with a total six awards.

These are Best Forward Facing Child Occupant Protection 2017-2020 given to the Honda Accord; Safety Technology Award, given to the Honda Civic (2021) for its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for motorcycles; the Excellent Award which recognizes consistent 5-star ratings, given to the Honda City (third – 5th generation) and Honda Civic (9th – 11th generation); the Most 5-Star Car 2012-2016 for the Adult Occupant Protection category, given to Honda; and Best Road Safety Partner, given to Honda.

Honda will continue to provide safe and reliable vehicles and lead efforts to realize zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles globally by 2050.

To recap, Honda’s model lineup has consistently achieved high ASEAN NCAP results.

The Civic has received 5-star ratings since its 2013 (models with VSA) model year, rating it in 2016 (models with seatbelt reminder), and again in 2021.

The City has achieved the same feat since 2012 (models with VSA), and again in 2014 (models with VSA), up until the current 2019 model in sedan and hatchback form.
