The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will be distributing voter's information sheet (VIS) to voters ahead of the May 2022 polls.
"Yes, we will be distributing VIS for the voters," Comelec- Education and Information Department Director Elaiza David said during the virtual walkthrough of the ballot printing process on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
"I still don't have information as to the target date for the distribution of VIS," she added.
The Comelec also revealed that the production and distribution of the VIS will now be handled by their regional offices.
Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas said this is in order to avoid delays in the distribution of VIS.
"Unlike in the past, where it is centralized with the National Printing Office. Now, the VIS will be handled per region," he said.
"What we did this year is to bid it out per region so that its distribution will have no delays," Abas added.
"When they are ready, we will immediately distribute the VIS," he said.
Based on Republic Act No. 7904, the Comelec must provide all registered voters, through registered mail, with a voter information sheet at least 30 days before an election.
The VIS include the voter’s name, address, the precinct and the place where he is registered, and simplified instructions as to the casting of votes.
