"Tentative start of ballot printing is tomorrow, 20 January 2022," the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Wednesday, Jan. 19.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez revealed why the printing committee pushed back the start of ballot printing.

“The printing committee, taking into consideration various technical factors, has moved the start of printing to a date yet to be announced. The committee assures the public that this later start will not negatively impact the Comelec’s preparations for the elections," he said.

Jimenez also said that the ballot faces will be released "as soon as the finalization process has been completed.”

The poll body was originally eyeing to start the ballot printing at the National Printing Office in Quezon City, Jan. 17.

The Comelec is set to print more than 67 million ballots. Of the said number, 1.6 million are for overseas voting and 65.7 million for local voting.
