LGUs implement no vax, no entry policy in E. Visayas


TACLOBAN CITY - In support of the national government's campaign against coronavirus disease (COVID-19), areas in Eastern Visayas regulate the movements of non-vaccinated individuals.

Northern Samar Governor Edwin Ongchuan issued Executive Order No. 01-01-22 denying entry in both public and private establishments, dining in restaurants and other food establishments, leisure or social trips to malls, hotels, event venues, gyms, and similar activities, domestic travel via public transportation by land, water, or air, except for essential goods and services, for medical emergencies or to undergo routine medical procedures.

All public and private establishments shall put up signage of “No vaccination Card, No Entry” at the entrance in addition to their existing COVID-19 protocols.

Unvaccinated individuals shall be required to present a negative RTC-PCR test result every two weeks at their expense before being admitted for work on site.

No unvaccinated individual shall also be admitted to the cockpit arena or in any other similar establishments.

In Catbalogan City, no vaccination, no entry policy will also be implemented at their border checkpoints. The policy will apply to all movements and travelers coming in from outside the city.

However, it will not affect all movements of city residents within the city. Vaccination cards will also be required upon entry into establishments, even those coming from Catbalogan City.

Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez also issued an executive order regulating mobility of unvaccinated individuals to be limited to purchasing essential goods and services, or for work in permitted industries and offices by existing labor laws, rules, and regulations.

Aside from QR codes, individuals entering establishments will be required to present their vaccination cards in all business establishments.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office 8 issued a warning to individuals offering and selling fake vaccination cards online.

The monitored Facebook accounts that were seen selling fake vaccination cards immediately deactivated their accounts when the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) received reports of the said activities.

PRO8 said violators will be charged under Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code (Falsification of Public Document by Private Individual), and Section 9 of the Republic Act 11332 known as “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.”
