9 drug suspects nabbed in Taguig, Pateros, Muntinlupa


Nine individuals were arrested by the police in anti-illegal drug operations in Taguig, Pateros, and Muntinlupa on Monday, Jan. 17.

Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Southern Police District director, said P622,880 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was confiscated during simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations (SACLEO).

At about 5 p.m., elements from the Taguig Sub-Station 9, Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) and Taguig Peace and Order Unit (TPOU) arrested John John Samaniego, 38, in Bagong Silang, Hagonoy in Taguig.

Samaniego was caught in possession of one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing about 3.4 grams with a value of P23,120.

In another operation, the police’s drug enforcement unit (DEU) conducted a buy-bust operation along Road 1, North Daang Hari in Taguig and arrested Ronie Añano, 47, and Rosalinda Bergonia, 44, both Taguig residents.

Recovered from the suspects were 12 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 57.2 grams with a standard drug price of P388,960 and P500 buy-bust money.

In Muntinlupa, the police’s drug enforcement unit conducted a buy-bust operation in Vivo Compound, Bgy. Bayanan resulting in the arrest of suspect Jim Medura, 21. The police recovered three plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 30 grams with a value of P204,000 and P1,000 buy-bust money.

In Pateros, five drug suspects were arrested by the police’s DEU during a buy-bust operation along P. Rosales Street, Bgy. Sta Ana.

They were identified as Albert Rilador, 39, listed in the “unified drugs watchlist,” and his cohorts Michael Angeles, 40, also listed in the watchlist; Noel Esquillo, 40; Christian Jedd Magno, 34; and Angelica Ballesteros, 23.

Seized during the operation were four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing one gram with a value of P6,800 and assorted drug paraphernalia.

All the nine suspects are now detained at the temporary custodial facilities in Taguig, Pateros, and Muntinlupa. The police will file cases against them for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The drug evidence was turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.

"The SPD team is working round the clock to safeguard the well-being of the southern Metro people. This only shows our allegiance to our service in keeping the community peace and in order,” said Macaraeg.
