4 Caraga cops in trouble over P2.7M robbery case

Four policemen from the CARAGA regional police have been placed under under restrictive custody for their alleged involvement in P2.7 million worth of robbery against a businessman in Davao Oriental last week.

Gen. Dionardo Carlos, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said his order is to ensure the availability of the four policemen in the conduct of a thorough investigation on the case that will be conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Internal Affairs Service.

He identified them as Police Master Sgt. Ronald Laro; Police Staff Sgts. Dariel John Mozo and Richard Ayala; and Patrolman Ivan Klein Osorio.

“Their restriction will also preclude any undue influence in the ongoing investigation and possible intimidation of witnesses and complainants. The investigation will give the accused policemen the opportunity to present their side and explain their actions,” said Carlos.

“Meantime, we will give them the benefit of the doubt until such time that all facts and evidence are established to build a case,” he added.

The four policemen earlier surrendered to their commanders at the Police Regional Office-13 Headquarters in Butuan City after they were implicated in a robbery involving P2.7-million and a substantial quantity of exotic Agar wood allegedly taken from the house of businessman Jasper Pabilic in Davao Oriental.
